Happy Monday scrappers! It’s meet the team Monday, once again, and this week we’re getting to know Mandie- a.k.a Mandalue.
Basics: Hello my scrappy friends! I’m Mandie (aka Mandalue), I’m 31 and I live in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska with my amazing husband (of 4 years) and my baby boy Jesse (11 mos). We’re originally from Southern California and have been in Alaska for 3 years now. I gave up teaching elementary school, for the time being, to raise our little man which gives me plenty of scrapping time!
How long have you been on the Blue Heart Scraps CT? I’ve been on JoyLynn’s team since September 2011.
Tell us about your scrapping experience: I started out scrapping in high school for school projects and then was introduced to Creative Memories when I was about 19. I loved paper scrapping but I’m a perfectionist and I would take forever on my layouts. Eventually, I became more of a collector rather than a scrapper. After moving to Alaska, I heard about Creative Memories digital software and was hooked once I tried it out! Occasionally, I take out my paper stuff and make a card but digi scrapping is where it’s at for me!
What program do you use? I use Creative Memories Storybook Creator 4.0 (SBC+). I love that this program allows me to do just about anything that other programs do and that it is so simple to use!!
What advice can you give to fellow scrappers? If you’re just starting out digi scrapping, then templates are a great way to get your “feet wet”! If you’re stuck on how to design your layout, then roaming the galleries of your favorite scrap sites (GingerScraps) can give you ton’s of inspiration! If you’re an SBC+ user, then don’t feel like you have to stick to the Creative Memories style of scrapping and make sure to search the web for tutorials on tips and tricks with the software!!
Tell us something different about you: My nickname has been Mandalue for nearly as long as I can remember and people often think Lue is my middle name…it’s not…my middle name is actually Starr (yes with 2 r’s) after my grandmother’s maiden name. The “lue” has made its way into my mom’s name, Mamalue, and into my car’s name (yes, I named my car), Pepelue, and sadly has had on occasion made its way into my son’s name, Jesselue (poor child).
What is your favorite layout you’ve made using Blue Heart Scraps products? My favorite layout so far would have to be “Everything” simply because it is so different from how I usually scrap and I just love the song that I used for the journaling.
What is your favorite Blue Heart Scraps kit? I love all of JoyLynn’s creations, but if I had to choose, I’d say my favorite would be a toss up between Glam and Just Another Day.
