I was so excited to hear this past week that the groundhog did not see his shadow. I hope he does not disappoint! I  am anxious for an early spring. The colors of this weeks spotlight yell out spring to me!

I absolutely LOVE this layout. The black and white are a great balance to the bright colors and I love how the pink paper and flowers just POP! The shadowing is amazing and the picture is priceless.

Happy Wednesday! 🙂  My oldest boy turns 7 today, so I’ve made the Awesome Mommy required trip to his school to bestow cupcakes upon his 1st grade class.  They were a huge hit, of course!  I always feel like a celebrity when I visit the school – all the little boys and girls smile and way, so excited to see me.  Does the ego good! 🙂  Unfortunately, I wound up bringing the birthday boy home with a fever (boo!) – but we’re not letting that stop us from having a great day!

Thursday again and time to check out the Blue Heart Scraps Gallery at Gingerscraps. I was amazed at all of the gorgeous layouts that have been posted in just the past week and it was so hard to narrow it down to just one. The layout I ended up choosing is titled “Family” by ScrapinMama.

I love how she did a frame inside of a frame. The clusters behind the photo are beautiful and the black and white photo is just stunning!

January is now 3/4 over and I am getting excited. January has always been a particular long month for me. The cold and I just don’t get along. This January has been particularly trying because it has been colder than usual. Most days have been single digits or only in the teens. The only positive side that comes from the cold is that I have more time for scrapping. Why?

1. No yard work.

2. The kids go to bed early because it gets dark early.

3. I avoid leaving the house at all costs so I have extra time on my hands.

When I am not scrapping I also love to pick up a good book. During the winter months it is always fun to bundle up and get lost in a fun novel. Normally I am lucky if I can get one book read, this month I have already managed to go through three!

While browsing through the gallery I learned something new. The title of Yabby’s page caught my eye, “Nook start up screen”.

I had no clue that you could create your own! I thought it was such an awesome idea to create a start up screen with a birthday calendar. I tried to do some research to see if I could do the same for my Kindle Fire, but as far as I could see I am out of luck. I wish I could had something that awesome to look at every time I turned on my Kindle! To create the start up screen Yabby used the new kit from Blue Heart Scraps “You Keep me in Stitches”.

I love the lettering she added to the banner and the flower cluster under the calendar. Congratulations Yabby, such a fun idea and you did a beautiful job!

Is everyone surviving January? With temperatures in the teens during the day and below zero at night I am more than ready to have January over with! It’s nice to have something to look forward to get through those long cold days. At our house we are counting down  the days (according to my daughter only 5 more days!!!) until Grandma and Grandpa are back home. They have been out of the country for two years and we are so anxious to have them home again. Even though the two years was broken up with a visit to see them, it still seems like forever. The kids are anxious to spend memorable moments with their grandparents again.  So when I saw this layout in the Blue Heart Scraps Gallery this week I just had to share.

This gorgeous layout titled “Carefree Days” was created by ScrapinMama. I love that she captured time spent with Grandpa. What a great keepsake for the kids! I loved the layered paper and the green polka-got ribbon holding the picture and frame together.
