Layout Spotlight: personal expression

Good morning!

Journaling is always something that I struggle with, I’m certain I’ve mentioned that before, if not, well now you know. When I saw this layout page in Blue Heart Scraps Gallery I felt sincerely compelled to read it. When I see a lot of journaling, I often wonder immediately (before I read it) how much of a person’s heart and soul is put into their words. This page caught my attention because of the simple design- not distracting from the memory of the moment being captured, from the private, personal thoughts being shared.

Tina used Blue Heart Scraps New Beginning kit. It has such a soft and almost neutral feel to it.

Do you journal your layouts? Or do you just create title art? Looking for a little inspiration? Take some time to write a letter to a loved one, whether they are still with us on Earth or are a loving, cherished memory. What is scrapping but a way to capture, save and share those memories? 🙂 You’d be surprised what flows from the heart once you start.

Tuesday Treats Freebie Time!

Man.  It’s already been a long, tiring week around here…and it’s just Tuesday! My oldest son, Tyler, started 1st Grade yesterday, and I think it was harder to drop him off then than it was last year when he started Kindergarten.  Last year he was nervous and anxious, and though very excited, griping my hand so hard as we walked down the hall.  This year? There was no hand holding in the hallway, and when we hit the classroom, he was in his chair before I had a chance to read his name on his desk!  He’s so incredibly excited about being in school…and I just hope (so. very. much.) that his excitement lasts!

He sure is handsome, isn’t he?  (pictured below with both his little brother, and his best buddy “E” – they’re all HUGE fans of the computer game Plants vs. Zombies, so those shirts fit their personality perfectly!) 🙂

Though today’s freebie isn’t specifically school themed, it still sort of fits in with Tyler’s new 1st Grade adventure.  Our city’s school system is making the digital switch this year…getting rid of the traditional paper textbooks and following a new high-tech path of providing laptops and iPads to all school children.  Because Tyler’s so young, he’ll share classroom access to a new iPad with two of his fellow classmates.  By the time he’s in 3rd Grade, he’ll be bringing home a fully equipped laptop each year, provided by the school system.  It’s strange to think of how different his school experience will be from what I experienced when I was his age…but I guess it’s all just a part of life, right?

Sort of like how when I was younger my mom would take us on weekly trips to the library and monthly trips to the bookstore for our reading pleasure…and now, we crank up the e-reader of our choice, purchase and downloading a new book (or borrow one from the library), and dive head first into the story without even leaving the bed!  🙂

Two New GingerScraps Releases & a Freebie!

Thank goodness for Friday!  I’m so ready for the weekend…but also, so very sad to see our summer ending so soon.  Our oldest starts back to school on Monday, and I’m not quite ready for him to leave me again…but, boy is HE excited about 1st grade! 🙂

He’s also excited to be starting his first season of flag football this week.  Watching the team of 5 and 6-year old boys out on the field running around trying to grab each others’ flags is hilarious!  I can’t wait for the games to begin! 🙂

My guest spot at Funky Playground Designs ended earlier this month, so this week, I’m starting to move the products that were exclusive at FPD during my stay there over to my GingerScraps store.  First up?  My first pack of Facebook Timeline Cover Templates:

Layout Spotlight: Banners!

Good Thursday Morning to YOU!

I’m bringing you TWO layouts this morning, except they aren’t layout pages at all. Oh no, so much more fun (not to say that pages aren’t fun, but…well, just wait!).  Today I want to share with you BANNERS! One of my favorite things!

Hybrid banners to be precise.

The first one made by Jill (JillW) uses Blue Heart Scraps My Cake Day kit, which I’ve said before, is one of my absolute FAVORITES!

The second banner I want to share with you is another birthday banner made by Mandie (Mandalue), but she used Blue Heart Scraps Showing Thanks kit- just goes to show kits can be so versatile!

I just love Mandie’s banner (I love them both!)! I love that each gal used a different kit, showing the versatility splendidly. A kit is only limited by your imagination!

Looking at these two lovely hybrid projects get’s me in the mood to hybrid myself- I’ve started many projects but have never gotten to any stage of printing. I envy these women and their creative powers! 😉 Banners are one of the easiest things to create when starting Hybrid (so I’ve been told) and they turn out absolutely beautiful whether they are simple or extravagant.

Tuesday Treats Freebie Time!

Oh what a week it’s been!  Broken vehicle, grumpy attitudes, hospitalization for my mom…it’s like a big black cloud hanging over our home.  Kind of glad we’re in a new week, and hopefully this one will be so much better!

Has school started where you are?  My oldest starts 1st Grade next month, and I’m ready to see all of the incredible new things he learns this year.  His ability to grasp so many new concepts last year, and the way he gets So. Very. Excited. when he reads things on his own…it’s exciting for me to learn right along with him! 🙂

Layout Spotlight: Making the Grad(e)!

It’s time for yet another Layout Spotlight- I was so happy to see many more new layouts in Blue Heart Scraps GingerScraps Gallery!

This layout by Atusia jumped out at me, the bold blue paper was what had me going back and really looking. It absolutely stood out in the gallery.

I really love her use of the pain splatters, and the alpha for title work. I like how she stacked the books to hold the date. The photos match beautifully with that blue paper! I also love the different papers she has stacked behind the photos. The layout is simple with just the right amount of elements and is super lovely!

Layout Spotlight

Good morning everyone! Happy Thursday! I’ve got another lovely layout to share with you!

This layout by robinsismai uses one of Blue Heart Scraps older kits, that I just love love love.

The papers are just too pretty! Plus, purple is my favorite color. I love all of her papers stacked in this layout and her little clusters around the photos are just right.

The kit she used was the Relax Mini Kit, again, one of my favorites.

I’d say this is a must have in your stash, with the muted colors and just the right amount of elements- then again, I’m bias and will tell you you need ALL of Blue Heart Scraps products in your stash. 😉
