How was your (i)NSD weekend? There was SO much happening EVERYWHERE! I’m exhausted just thinking about it all.  I hope you all had an amazing weekend, scored some amazing goodies and scrapped some amazing layouts. 🙂

It’s Meet the Team Monday again! Today we’re talking to Amy [mommyscrapper].

Basics: My name is Amy and I have been married to my sweetheart for 15 1/2 years. I am a SAHM to two daughters 14 and 12, and three sons 10, 8 and 1 1/2.

How long have you been on the Blue Heart Scraps CT? I just joined in February of 2012

What is your favorite layout you’ve made using Blue Heart Scraps products?

Tell us about your scrapping experience: Did you ever paper scrap? When did you start digi-scrapping? How did you get started?
I started paper scrapping during high school and continued doing it while my kids were little. My friends would have a ladies night once a month and scrap the night away. After moving in 2005 all of my stuff was a little disorganized and I had lost motivation to pull it out and I didn’t have anyone to go with anymore. I heard someone mention digi-scrapping and so I looked into it. For Christmas that year I received PSE 4 and I was hooked. No mess and saved so much time. I could make 1 page and print it 4 times for all of the kids books.

What program do you use?
I started with PSE 4. but I now use PS CS4

Can you share a tip or a piece of advice for your fellow digi scrappers out there?
You can’t enjoy your pictures if they are hidden on your hard drive. Start scrapping so you can enjoy them.

Tell us something different about you: I am a bit of a do-it-yourselfer. It’s hard for me to think of paying someone else to do something when I could do it myself or figure out how to do it. A few years ago I refinished a piano I bought from the classifieds and redid two chairs and a small table that belonged in my Grandma. Now my hands are full with a toddler and I ma lucky if I can get the laundry done and dinner on the table.

What is your favorite Blue Heart Scraps kit?

Tuesday Treats Freebie, $1 Bake Sale & Prepping for iNSD!

Man, I have been busy today, lol!  My guest store at Funky Playground Designs is open.  I’m hosting the May Color Challenge at GingerScraps, and have included a small paper pack freebie to get you started.  And, now I’m back to tell you about some things I completely forgot to tell you about in my first blog post this morning!

Meet the team Monday- Mandalue! Plus, SALE!

Happy Monday scrappers!   It’s meet the team Monday, once again, and this week we’re getting to know Mandie- a.k.a  Mandalue.

Basics: Hello my scrappy friends! I’m Mandie (aka Mandalue), I’m 31 and I live in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska with my amazing husband (of 4 years) and my baby boy Jesse (11 mos). We’re originally from Southern California and have been in Alaska for 3 years now. I gave up teaching elementary school, for the time being, to raise our little man which gives me plenty of scrapping time!

How long have you been on the Blue Heart Scraps CT? I’ve been on JoyLynn’s team since September 2011.

Tell us about your scrapping experience: I started out scrapping in high school for school projects and then was introduced to Creative Memories when I was about 19. I loved paper scrapping but I’m a perfectionist and I would take forever on my layouts. Eventually, I became more of a collector rather than a scrapper. After moving to Alaska, I heard about Creative Memories digital software and was hooked once I tried it out! Occasionally, I take out my paper stuff and make a card but digi scrapping is where it’s at for me!

What program do you use? I use Creative Memories Storybook Creator 4.0 (SBC+). I love that this program allows me to do just about anything that other programs do and that it is so simple to use!!

What advice can you give to fellow scrappers? If you’re just starting out digi scrapping, then templates are a great way to get your “feet wet”! If you’re stuck on how to design your layout, then roaming the galleries of your favorite scrap sites (GingerScraps) can give you ton’s of inspiration! If you’re an SBC+ user, then don’t feel like you have to stick to the Creative Memories style of scrapping and make sure to search the web for tutorials on tips and tricks with the software!!

Tell us something different about you: My nickname has been Mandalue for nearly as long as I can remember and people often think Lue is my middle name…it’s not…my middle name is actually Starr (yes with 2 r’s) after my grandmother’s maiden name. The “lue” has made its way into my mom’s name, Mamalue, and into my car’s name (yes, I named my car), Pepelue, and sadly has had on occasion made its way into my son’s name, Jesselue (poor child).

What is your favorite layout you’ve made using Blue Heart Scraps products? My favorite layout so far would have to be “Everything” simply because it is so different from how I usually scrap and I just love the song that I used for the journaling.

What is your favorite Blue Heart Scraps kit? I love all of JoyLynn’s creations, but if I had to choose, I’d say my favorite would be a toss up between Glam and Just Another Day.

Layout Spotlight!

Let’s jump right in, shall we? The first thing that caught my eye when I saw this layout by Becky (beckyroy) was it’s clustering- absolutely wonderful!

Her paper stacking it just right and her use of the wordart and alpha as part of the title is perfectly perfect!

Meet the Team Monday! Plus sale!

Good Morning Friends! It’s another Monday, but don’t let that get you down! Monday’s can be super awesome, especially here at Blue Heart Scraps.

This time around we’re chatting up Cherry.

The Basics:
Hi! My name is Cherry, I’m married and I have one daughter. I’m currently staying at home playing and taking care of my little one and my family.

How long have you been on the Blue Heart Scraps CT?
I’m just new to the group, I was accepted February of this year (thanks to JL :) )

Tell us about your scrapping experience: Did you ever paper scrap? When did you start digi-scrapping? How did you get started?
I was a paper scrapper since my college days, making cards and simple layouts for friends and families. Then I learned of digital scrapbooking in 2009 when I visited a paper scrapping friend’s blog and saw one of her follower whose onto digital scrapbooks. I checked on her blog and learned about ‘photoshop’ and ‘digiscrap.’ So after a week of reading her blog and other links, I bought my own PS CS3 and PSE 7. Since then I got hooked on the neatness, clutter free and simplicity of digital scrapbooking.

What program do you use?
I’m using Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Element 7

Can you share a tip or a piece of advice for your fellow digi scrappers out there?
Hmm.. I’m very particular with the shadowing, I think it makes a lot of difference in the way a layout is presented. And also, when you are done re-sizing your layout for web posting, it would be best if you will use filtering. Now that will make all the difference when posting on your online galleries.

Tell us something different about you
I am a teacher. I still use ‘am’ because that is who I am. I used to teach preschool, grade school and high school before I decided to stay at home and take care of my family 24/7. I have always dreamed of going to the European continent. I want to visit Paris, London and Italy and Rome, someday.
