Meet the Team Monday – Amy and a Sale

It’s time for you to meet our next Blue Heart Scraps Team member — ME!

There are a few Amy’s on the Blue Heart Scraps CT, and we’ll be sure to introduce them all to you. I’m the one that works a bit more behind the scenes here on the blog and on Facebook.

So, let me tell you alittle more about myself:

Basic Bio:
I’m Amy (known as FamilyHistoryScrapper in the digital scrapbooking world). I’m 32 and an elementary school teacher, a job which I love. On a personal note, I’m getting married this summer!! I got engaged this past Christmas and will marry the man of my dreams this August! I cannot wait!

How long have you been on the Blue Heart Scraps CT?
I joined February 2012 as part of the Promo Team

Tell us about your scrapping experience: Did you ever paper scrap? When did you start digi-scrapping? How did you get started?
I did start out paper scrapping, many, many years ago. I still have tubs of supplies upstairs from Creative Memories and all types of other scrapbook companies. I never finished many albums in paper scrapping as it took so much effort to get all my supplies out all the time and I was always afraid to mess things up and not be able to fix them. Around 2007, my sister-in-law got me into Digital scrapbooking and from then I was hooked! I especially loved it for the ability to create amazing layouts with older, heritage photos. I scrapped for a good while and then took a break to help with family issues for awhile, but then returned with a fervor to digi-scrapping as I have a whole new world of things to scrapbook since I met my finance and we have lots of amazing times ahead of us in the future.

What program do you use?
PSP 9 (I so need to upgrade, but I know this program so well, I hate to have to start learning something new!!)

Can you share a tip or a piece of advice for your fellow digi scrappers out there?
Check out galleries to get inspired! I know that has really helped me to expand my abilities in digital scrapbooking. Also, find tutorials online….I even took a class on how to use my program to do scrapbooking things so I could learn more, yet every day I work on a layout I learn something new. My favorite things are the tips from others scrappers out there!

Tell us something different about you:
This might not be too ‘different’ considering my scrapbooking name, but I’m a huge family history buff! Since the time I was super little my mom took me with her to libraries and places to research family history. Once I was old enough, I just loved digging into the past and learning more about where my ancestors came from. There are days I wish I could travel back in time for a short visit and actually ‘see’ history in action for real!

What is your favorite layout you’ve made using Blue Heart Scraps products?

What is your favorite Blue Heart Scraps kit?
This is a hard one as I love them all, but if I had to pick one I’d say Fresh Picked, as it was the kit that first drew me to Blue Heart Scraps!

In honor of my getting to introduce myself to all of you, my favorite kit: Fresh Picked, will be on sale TODAY only for just $1. Hurry over to GingerScraps to pick up this great kit for just $1!

Green Thumb, Winner & Freebie!

Good Friday morning, all!  And Happy Easter weekend!  🙂

We’ve got a busy weekend planned.  Tomorrow is opening day at our local ball park, and since both boys are playing t-ball this year, we’ll enjoy the comforts at being at the park a lot for the next few months.  The boys are excited, and looking absolutely adorable in their little t-ball uniforms, and I can’t wait to laugh and giggle through the games – they’re certainly good for a few laughs each practice! 🙂

Another thing on docket for me this weekend?  Watering the sprouts in our vegetable garden. It’s the first time we’ve ever planted anything really, and I’m a Nervous Nelly that nothing will grow (though so far, everything seems to be sprouting up just fine!).  I’m excited about it, though – and the boys LOVE helping water and watch everything grow!  🙂

It was our first little vegetable garden that started the inspiration this week’s new kit, Green Thumb.  Bring your garden adventures to life with this fun new kit.  It’s packed with 18 papers and 48 elements for your scrapping pleasure!  And, as usual, it’s 25% off this weekend!  🙂

Check out the gorgeous layouts created by my team and the ladies at GingerScraps:

Beautiful, aren’t they?!  🙂

Thanks for the comments on Wednesday’s Sneak Peek post.  I let Random.org pick a winner:

Congrats, Patty!!!  🙂  I’ll email you later today with your coupon to pick up your free copy of Green Thumb!  🙂

And, last but not least, a freebie template created by my talented CT Lead, Kelley, the colors to coordinate with this week’s new release.

Tuesday Treats Freebie Time!

So hard to believe April is already here — seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the new year, and now it’s already a fourth of the way over!  But, if there’s one good thing about time going by so fast, it means you get to collect more gorgeous freebies faster!

Yes, that was a horrible segue…but I’m tired this morning, and I got nothing else, lol.

So, how about just a download link for a gorgeous cluster frame created by my talented Creative Team member Michelle, using the Just Another Day collab.  Hope you enjoy!  🙂

Meet the Team Monday – Kari and a Special Sale

It’s time for another installment of our Meet the Team Monday. This week we introduce you to one of the newer members of the Blue Heart Scraps Creative Team: Kari. Let’s get to know her now.

Basic Bio:

Hello everyone! I am Kari! I am 29 years old and from Wisconsin! I am married to the man of my dreams, Raymond. Together Ray and I have three beautiful children. Bianca is our oldest..she is smart, perky and not scared to tell you what is on her mind. She just turned 8 in Dec and is in the second grade. Kai is our only boy and is five. He loves cars and trucks and is very into Batman right now. Kai has Autism and Speech Apraxia amongest other special needs, but that doesn’t get in his way of being a wonderful little boy! Asia is our youngest. The Doodle (as she is known) is three years old. She like her big sister is quite smart for her age and very vocal! She loves Dora, Abby Cadabby and baby dolls!

I work part time at a children’s store called Crazy 8 and I totally love it! I love customer service and helping others and I love all my fellow co-workers. They are all like family to me!

In my spare time I love spending time with my family and close friends. We do a lot together as a family. We love spending time at local parks, pools and just having family nights in or cook outs with our friends. My grandmother and I have a very special bond and she is my best friend. I talk to her daily on the phone and if she doesn’t hear from me she sends my grandfather over to check on me! She is my best friend and I tell her almost everything.

I love to take photos of my children and try to take at least a photo of them a day. My camera is always attached to me! I of course am into digital scrapbooking! :P and spend a lot of time scrapping my family moments. I also love to cook and experiment in the kitchen! My kids are wonderful co-chefs and love to help me come up with new things for our family to try! We are really into casseroles right now.

How long have you been on the Blue Heart Scraps CT?

I am a pretty new member…I was just added to the team in Feb. and I am loving it!

Tell us about your scrapping experience: Did you ever paper scrap? When did you start digi-scrapping? How did you get started?

I been scrapbooking since middle school. It started out as paper scrapping, I had a pretty large scrapbook. I got into web design my Freshman year of high school, before digital scrapbooking was really big. I was really into web design and creating webpages. It hit me I could also create scrapbook pages using web kits. I started and became hooked. I still did a lot of paper scrapbooking though. It wasn’t till I had kids that I became a full time digital scrapbooker, just due to the time factor. It is a lot easier now to sit down at a computer and create a scrapbook page then pull out the big box of papers when you have kids around!

What program do you use?

I started out using Paint Shop Pro 7. I still use it time to time to edit photos and create templates, but now I am a huge Adobe Photoshope Fan. I use Photoshope about 90% of the time now and have two different versions of it saved on my computer that I like to use for different reasons.

Can you share a tip or a piece of advice for your fellow digi scrappers out there?

There is no wrong way to digital scrap. Seriously don’t be scared to go out and use those bold papers or be creative. Scrap what matters most to you and your layouts will shine!

When journaling, I never edit. I write as if I was writing in a diary. Write what ever comes to mind and just let your ideas flow. Journaling is a lot more real and heartful that way, when it is not scripted.

Tell us something different about you:

I am really into rights for special needs and helping the special needs community out. Not only because my son has special needs (Autism and Speech Apraxia amongest other issues), but also because I am deaf. I am not scared to educate others on special needs or stand up for rights. I am a huge part of the special needs community in my area and also online.

What is your favorite layout you’ve made using Blue Heart Scraps products?
This one called I love You Monster Much

What is your favorite Blue Heart Scraps kit?
that is a hard one, because I love them all! But if I had to choose one right now, I would probably say
My Cake Day because I love the bright bold colors!
and my all time favorite Alpha is the Clear Acrylic Alpha ! HUGE fan of those clear letters.

JoyLynn REALLY has a special treat for you all this week! Not only is Kari’s Favorite kit: My Cake Day onsale but so are ALL the add-on packs!!!

How AWESOME is that!! For one day only you get all these great products for JUST $1 each!!!

Hurry over to GingerScraps TODAY only to grab all these great packs for just ONE DOLLAR each!! You definitely don’t want to miss this deal!!

April’s $1 Buffet, Bake Sale & New Book!

I love the first of the month – it gives me the opportunity to share so many gorgeous, fun & exciting things with you!  And trust me when I say this April Fools Day does not disappoint.  🙂

First up, a new month means a new book club book.

Our read for April is Blake Crouch’s RUN.  I won’t give anything away (our discussion of the book doesn’t start until the 7th, so you still have some time to pick up a copy and read along), but based on the description of his book, you can expect an extremely intense and powerful story.

A new month also means a new GingerScraps Buffet!  For our April Buffet we are gearing up for Spring with the Happy Hopscotch Buffet! This buffet will be all about lazy days at the park and playground. Swinging on the swing-set, flying a kite, blowing bubbles, playing hopscotch, pinwheels, puffy clouds, jump rope, jacks, sidewalk chalk, slides, monkey bars, picnics… oh now I’m getting excited for Spring!  As always, the monthly Buffet items are on sale for just $1 through the 5th of the month, so I suggest you stock up fast!

I’ve got 4 new packs in this month’s buffet – and I am so incredibly excited about them! 🙂

There’s the a watercolor paint inspired alpha, ever so slightly transparent, but perfect for any layout:

There’s the super fun element pack – gorgeous tree, 2 types of swings, puffy clouds, bicycle, little red wagon – it’s just full of spring time goodness!

There’s a plain paper pack, great on its own, or easily paired with any of the gorgeous patterned paper packs in this month’s buffet:

And a patterned paper pack – bright colors, fun patterns.  Should certainly get your scrapping mojo in gear!

Just check out the gorgeous layouts from my creative team and the GingerScraps Gingerbread Girls!

But, h0ld on!  I’m not done yet!!! 🙂  There’s also the April $1 Bake Sale to discuss!  A collection of kits and products from the GingerScraps designers, marked down to just $1 for the first 5 days of the month – and that’s no April Fools!

And this month, I have a slew of products in the bake sale, trying my best to give you gorgeous scrapping products for a low price.  Here’s what available to you for just $1 through the 5th:

*whew!*  That was a lot, wasn’t it?  Have fun shopping – and enjoy your April Fools Day!!!  🙂
